8 Week Mindfulness Courses in Exeter

Our next 8 week course starts soon. Email us for further details.

Moments of Mindfulness teach standard 8 week mindfulness courses in Exeter. The facilitators have been trained in both MBSR and MBCT (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy). The course will include elements of each as appropriate for the group. The course will help you to systematically develop the skills of mindful acceptance. You will learn new ways to handle challenging thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations. It will enable you to be more fully present and engaged with the good things in your life.

As your mindfulness develops, you will become aware of your critical mind and will approach it with compassion and kindness, allowing you to let go of judgments and self doubt. As a result, you can reclaim your balance and a calmer life.

Who is the course for?

Anyone wishing to enhance their general physical and mental wellbeing. In addition, if you are experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood or feeling generally dissatisfied with your life, this course will teach you how to respond better to everyday situations.

The programme is not being offered as a treatment for any specific physical or psychological conditions. It is not suitable for people who are currently experiencing severe problems. To make sure this course is suitable for you at this time, you will be asked as part of the registration process some information about your general well-being and state of mind.

What will I learn?

You will learn to deal more skilfully with the stresses and strains of daily living. Practicing the skill of deliberately paying attention to what happens in mind and body will enable you to become more familiar with the workings of your own mind patterns and habits. It will help you to identify habits that may no longer be helpful to you. You learn to spot your own early warning signs, before stress or low mood become too overwhelming. This allows you to make plans for how best to respond, rather than react in our old familiar, and often unhelpful ways.

What does the course include?

Each weekly session last 2 hours and will include a combination of guided meditation practices, discussions, teaching and exercises. In between sessions, there will be home practice that will take approximately 1 hour/day. Completing this daily practice will enable you to get the most out of your course. Each participant will receive guided meditation CDs and written handouts.
